FEELS A BIT NUTTY ?You probably already know who you'd give it to — someone whose kindness, courage or action has stayed with you.
Still, handing them a coin and telling them why might feel a bit nutty. Maybe that's just because we're not used to saying it: "I see what you do. It matters."
You do not have to be perfect or feel worthy to carry the coin. It is a reminder to practise the virtues and, when it is given, a recognition that someone did something that mattered.
Give it a go. It can mean a lot.
One Hand to the Next
I gave the first coin to Alfred, a friend in my village, Deloraine. He has long helped people doing it tough and stood with those on the edge. He said it made him feel seen.Alfred gave it to David in Hobart, who plays free music on the street to raise money for people experiencing homelessness.David now carries the coin while considering who to give it to next. That is how the OZ Charter moves—one hand to the next.
